Missing in Action

I've gotten a few emails from some of you concerned with where I have been.....well, as usual, just when you think life is going pretty well and you are enjoying smooth sailing, something has to cause waves.....well in my case it feels more like a hurricane.

For those of you who don't know, my hubby is Active Duty military. We moved to Scott AFB a little over two years ago with the belief that this would be our last duty station. He has a little over 18 months to go, and with a three year controlled tour, we were assured by the powers that be, that there would be no more moving, deployments, etc.

Ok, I know all of you familiar with the Military are now laughing. Things never work out the way they "Promise".

So, as you can imagine, when my husband went to work and discovered he had orders, we were flabbergasted........We have a house and three dogs and a teenager about to start highschool. I admit it, I broke down over the phone. Then came the kicker.....

Oh, it's only orders for him. He will be gone on an unaccompanied tour for 12 months. WHAT!!!!!

So, I've been scarce lately because I'm trying to wrap my head around this newest development in our lives. Somehow I'm suppose to survive as a single Mom of a teenage girl and a 10 year old boy for 12 months while my husband gets to hang out in the resort town of Izmir, Turkey.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very glad that he isn't going to Afghanistan or Iraq or some other hotspot in the world....we've already done that. But, I really thought that the 12 months I did without him in 2000 when Katie was two was the only one of these I had to live through.

Anyway, enough of me whining. He leaves in October, and has insisted that I still go to convention and enjoy myself. I'm sure the shock will wear off soon and I'll be back to posting again, but I wanted to let you know what was going on....

Oh, and if you want to say a little prayer or cross your fingers for me and the kids, I would greatly appreciate it. We are going to need all the support we can get.

  2. Sending hugs and strength all the way fm Australia Kelly. I am not a person of prayer, but I believe in sending good will into the greater universe, knowing that it will find its way to those who need it most. Reading this post....well I think you have many around you (crafting and otherwise) who will love and support you. Best wishes. ooxx

  3. Sending you thoughts of strength and courage. I've been single forever so the thought of sharing my house with two legged people is terrifying but for you being without your partner would be just as terrifying as sharing is for me. Just remind yourself how fast time flies. It will pass before you know it. also know there are people sending you cyber hugs when it gets tough :)
